~ about heART ~

A hearty hello to you and thanks for taking the time in your busy day to stop by…

My name is Christine and I am the founder of ~ the daily heART ~.  About a year ago, I started noticing hearts everywhere…in clouds, in leaves, in petals, in countless rocks, and trees, and shells, and sea foam…even sidewalk stains and bird’s business. I became a wee bit obsessed with taking pictures of these found hearts, and even started a website called heartsINature on facebook and tumblr. Now before you write me off as some clueless, new agey,  hippie chick…let me explain that for me, it’s more about expressing creativity and stretching the boundaries of how we perceive what’s around us…whether it’s a squashed piece of gum on a dirty sidewalk or a glowing sunset on a pristine beach…there is the potential for heART in everything. I am an East Coast girl living on the West Coast for over 20 years now, and  I am thankful to have both of those sensibilities ingrained in me. I’m aware that it’s almost a joke among family and friends that I can find a heart just about anywhere in just about anything. I’m sure I’ve annoyed many people in the past year with my heart fanaticism, but hopefully,  I’ve inspired some, too. I am honored that people have sent me hearts they’ve found from all over the globe…Australia, Hawaii, Portugal, Nashville, the Chesapeake Bay, NYC, North Carolina, and the Florida Keys and hundreds right here in San Francisco, too. And the hearts have ranged from various food items to burning embers in a campfire to reddish scars on the souls of feet to a perfectly heart-shaped spot on a little doggie butt. Score! I love getting these hearts from folks! It’s so awesome  to know there are so many out there. And on my own, I find at least one a day…usually several. So, I started to look upon this daily heart as a really cool gift. A little daily reminder of love. And I accepted the gift and went with it with a heart vengeance. But, it wasn’t like my life miraculously changed into this perfect utopian world…found hearts don’t pay the bills or fend off colds or prevent heart ache…but, it can shift one’s perspective. It has made me realize the simple fact that love is all around us. Everywhere. It has the potential to be in everything, and even in the most unexpected places. And it is available to everyone.  Free of charge. No matter where we were born and raised, or which color eyes we view the world…we all want the same thing in life:  To love and be loved. It really all comes down to the heart.

And let’s face it, when you see the image of a heart, you are more inclined to think of the good things: of love…of kindness…affection….passion…life force…that pulsing thread that connects us all. And that is a beautiful thing. And, I don’t know about you, but I’m weary of all the negative stuff out there…bad news and violence and people being unkind to each other…bullying…intolerance…cynicism…war…pollution…destruction…hate…and anger. I personally want to live in a world that focuses more on the positive. Where creativity rules. Where goodness blossoms on a daily basis. Where people are inspired to help each other and kill each other with kindness…pay it forward…all that good schtuff. Where instead of saying “life is hard,” we say “life is heART!” And, I’m not gonna kid anyone, I want to have a damn good time doing it. So, my mission is to get ~ the daily heART ~ up and beating strongly.I want this to be a place for heARTists…positive creative heartworkers…to stay connected to what really matters. ~ the daily heART ~ will feature only good news, good photos, good food, good music, good laughs, good people, and good vibes…all with a heART focus…and all about sharing the love.

My main man Emerson says, “Write it in your heart that every day is the best of the year. ” Let’s help each other do just that.

Have the best day and keep up the heART work!

<3 Christine
